Tsukiji

You have to do this!!! this is an incredible market fish but there is one difficulty: you have to go there at 5am or 6am. So maybe it's better to not sleep..
You can eat really fresh fish, sashimi taht you make by yourself just scratching the big tuna....

on the street...

an other way to discover japanese food it's also to enjoy it on the street. In fact you have many 'festival' where you can see a lot of shops on the street, cooking some delicious (or not...) traditional food.
I was on Ebisu and i don'y know why event it was but i really appreciate environment with these color on the street (particularly red...) and those little shops.
If you don't find them you can also go in asakusa on sunday, it's quiet the same thing...

Kyushu Jangara Ramen

Ramen? it means noodles, very big noodles... i don't like this kind of food but is typically japanese. So this one, i think, is quiet good...

GONPACHI

It's dominating the Nishi Azabu crossing. This restaurant inspired the film Kill Bill. We was sit at rustic wooden table, and we eat some yakitori, salads and sashimis... but for the dessert, just on advice : take this fabulous chocolate cake!!

Okonomiyaki

You can go in Shimo kitazawa, it's very easy, it's a short train ride from both Shibuya and Shinjuku. It's just a little less trashy than Shibuya.. and you can enjoy walking on this new area, which is packed with cool shops, cafes and bars.
I went there on sunday and i tried some thing new : okonomiyaki!!
Originally from western japan is very cheap and robust. It's a cross between a pancake and an omelette, stuffed with meat ( here it was pork...), beansprouts, chopped cabbage and other goodies (like shrimp, octopus, rice cake, garlic...)
Very nice place... but i recommend you to take only one okonomiyaki for two people because it's really bounteous!!

OTAFUKU
